Privacy Policy

Art Identifier (“we”, “us”, the “App”) is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what we process when you use the App, why, and the choices you have. By using Art Identifier you agree to this policy.

The short version

• We don’t require an account, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or contacts.
• Photos you scan are sent to our server only to identify them, then processed by our AI provider. We don’t use them to build a profile of you.
• Your saved collection and history live on your device, not on our servers.
• Purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat — we never see your card details.

Information we process

• Photos you capture or upload. When you identify something, the image is sent to our backend and forwarded to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the identification, story, and optional narration. Images are used only to fulfill that request.
• Identification text & audio. To keep the App fast and reduce cost, generated narration audio may be cached on our server keyed by an anonymous hash of the text — this cache contains no information that identifies you.
• Your collection & recent finds. Items you save and your recent scans are stored locally on your device (not uploaded to us).
• Purchase status. Subscription and entitlement status is managed by Apple and our payments partner, RevenueCat, which provides us anonymous, app-scoped identifiers — not your payment information.
• Basic technical logs. Our server keeps short-lived operational logs (e.g. request timing and errors) to keep the service running and secure.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not use your photos to advertise to you or to identify people.
• We do not require sign-in or collect your contacts, precise location history, or social graph.

How long we keep things

Uploaded images are processed to fulfill your request and are not retained as part of a user profile. Cached narration audio is anonymous and kept only to serve repeat requests efficiently. Your on-device collection remains until you clear it in Settings or delete the App.

Third-party services

• OpenAI — processes images and text to generate identifications, stories, and narration. See OpenAI’s privacy policy for details.
• RevenueCat & Apple — manage subscriptions, billing, and entitlements.

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the App’s core features.

Children

Art Identifier is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

• Clear your saved collection at any time from Settings → Clear collection.
• Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
• Deleting the App removes the data stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
